Hitchcock could be a bully, particularly towards women. In his 1963 film, The Birds, actress Tippi Hedren was attacked by real birds instead of the promised dummies, to ensure her reaction would be sufficiently horrified#Hitchcock's favourite actors were Cary Grant and James Stewart. He made four films with each of them#The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) was the only Hitchcock remake: he shot the original version in Britain in 1934. However, two sequels to Psycho were made after Hitchcock's death#Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville, was a scriptwriter. She collaborated with him on many of his films, from The Ring (1927) onwards#Hitchcock was a heroic figure to the next generation of film-makers. The French director, Francois Truffaut, wrote a book about him, "Le Cinema Selon Hitchcock"
